The Conference of the Parties (COP) have adopted a decision contained in the Bali Roadmap which recognises the importance of sustainable forest management as a solution to climate change. Read more.

NAFI's CEO, Catherine Murphy, and Deputy CEO, Allan Hansard, were appointed as members of the official Australian delegation to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) meeting. They represented the interests of the Australian forest industry at the Bali meeting to promote the benefits of sustainable forest management as a key activity in addressing climate change. NAFI welcomes the approval of the Tasmanian pulp mill project, saying it is great news for Tasmania and a watershed for further value adding of Australia's forest resources. Read More.

National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting

NAFI's members are keen to participate in the Australian Emissions Trading Scheme (AETS), as there should be significant opportunities to not only reduce energy consumption, and therefore emissions, but also to generate offset credits through increased forestation and other abatement actions.
