Media ReleasesNAFI welcomes Tuckey Appointment19 Oct 1998 Statement from NAFI Executive Director, Dr Robert Bain NAFI welcomes the appointment of Wilson Tuckey as Minister for Forestry and Conservation. Mr Tuckey is an enthusiastic, active parliamentarian with a good understanding of regional concerns. He has been closely involved in rural backbench committees, including forestry, where he has demonstrated a strong willingness to listen to the issues, participate in the debate and ask tough questions. Forestry has made substantial progress under the first Howard Government and the Australian forest industry is looking forward to working with Wilson Tuckey and the re elected Coalition Government ot achieve a balanced scientific outcome from the implementation of the National Forest Policy Statement and Regional Forest Agreements, Plantations 2020 and other key forestry initiatives.
